19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.
The win also means he has achieved 21 victories at 21 different tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.
His defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.
Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
